TITLE: Senior Software Engineer

Job Description: Design and develop software for MongoDB’s database products and query systems. Build and maintain features of the MongoDB database and query system. Produce, socialize, and get approval on design documents for features being developed. Produce code to implement designs that have been approved for features being developed. Mentor junior engineers and assist them in designing and implementing features. Review the design documents and code of other engineers in the organization. Participate in an on-call rotation and help respond to production incidents and customer requests. Conduct Software Engineer hiring interviews. Must be available to work in office 3 days per week. Working from home permitted 2 days per week.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in Software Engineering or in the job offered or related field. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or related field and three (3) years of experience in Software Engineering or in the job offered or related role. Any suitable combination of education, experience, or training acceptable.

Experience and/or education must include:  

1. Building systems software in a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or Golang;
2. Writing technical documents to describe proposed solutions and writing highly concurrent code;
3. Using a profiler tool and analyzing heat maps for performance;
4. Knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms used in the development of data intensive systems; and
5. Modern software development practices, including version control and deployment techniques.

JOB SITE: 88 Kearny St Suite 500, San Francisco, CA 94108. Must appear in office 3 days per week: WFH permissible 2 days per week.
